David T. Grimsrud, Ph.D. David Grimsrud is principal, Grimsrud and Associates, Minneapolis, Minn., and professor emeritus, Department of Bio-Based Products, University of Minnesota. He has contributed to the industry through his work in efficient ventilation, infiltration and indoor air quality. In the 1980s, he published landmark studies on radon and indoor air quality and looked at energy efficient methods for improving air quality. He developed the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory infiltration model for predicting infiltration in single-zone buildings based on leakage and outdoor weather. He oversaw the University of Minnesota’s building energy efficiency program, an extensive effort to improve energy efficiency of university buildings. The program resulted in $2 million annual savings from a $10 million investment. He is chair of ASHRAE’s 62.2 committee, the only nationally recognized indoor air quality standard developed solely for residences.
